Edo Police Raids Kidnappers Den, Free 10 Sudents

In a daring operation, the Edo State Police Command has rescued 10 students who were abducted while on their way to the GYC Africa Conference at Babcock University.
The students, comprising eight males and two females, were kidnapped on Wednesday at a location bordering Edo and Ondo states.
According to a statement released by the command’s spokesman, Moses Yamu, the rescue operation was carried out by a team of police officers from the Ohosu Division, IRT, and tactical teams, who were assisted by hunters and vigilantes.
The team engaged in a gun duel with the kidnappers, resulting in the neutralization of one of the assailants and the escape of others with bullet wounds.
Sadly, a member of the police crack team sustained a gunshot injury during the operation and is currently receiving treatment. However, the rescue effort was successful, and all 10 students were released due to the intense pressure mounted on the kidnappers.
The Edo State Police Command has commended the bravery and professionalism of the rescue team, who worked tirelessly to ensure the safe release of the students. The command has also assured the public that it will continue to work tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of all residents in the state.
In a separate development, the command has announced the arrest of two suspects, Binigolo Ebineme, 25, and Mathew Denwei, 27, who were accused of robbing a victim of his motorcycle and phone at Malim Camp Gbelebu community in the Ovia South-West LGA. The suspects were arrested following a distress call and were found to be in possession of a locally fabricated pistol, two headlamps, and the stolen motorcycle.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that the suspects have been terrorizing farmers and commuters in the area, and they have confessed to the crime. The suspects will be charged to court as soon as the investigation is concluded.
The State Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, has reassured residents of the command’s commitment to ensuring their safety and security. He urged the public to report any suspicious persons, movement, or objects to the police, saying that the command is committed to making Edo State a safe and secure place for all.
