Adelabu Assures Nigerians of FG’s Commitment to Stable Power

Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has reassured the nation of the federal government’s unwavering commitment to ensuring stability in the power sector.

In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Strategic Communications and Media Relations, Bolaji Tunji, and made available to newsmen in Abuja on Saturday, Mr. Adelabu acknowledged the economic hardships faced by many Nigerians and reaffirmed the ministry’s dedication to addressing the challenges within the country’s energy sector.

According to the minister, the ministry of power remains resolute in its efforts to stabilize the grid, expand access to electricity, and foster investor confidence. He highlighted recent reforms, such as the ongoing upgrade of transmission infrastructure and partnerships with renewable energy developers, as pivotal to achieving sustainable solutions.

“We are committed to stabilizing the grid, expanding access, and fostering investor confidence,” Mr. Adelabu said. “Recent reforms, such as the ongoing upgrade of transmission infrastructure and partnerships with renewable energy developers, are pivotal to achieving sustainable solutions. We urge Nigerians to continue to support government policies and initiatives aimed at transforming the power sector.”

The minister also called on Nigerians to play their part in ensuring the success of the government’s efforts by reporting illegal activities such as energy theft and tampering with power infrastructure. He emphasized the importance of embracing energy-efficient practices to reduce strain on the grid, saying, “Let us also embrace energy-efficient practices to reduce strain on the grid.

By doing so, we can ensure that the benefits of our efforts are felt by all Nigerians.”

Mr. Adelabu’s message was in line with President Bola Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda,” which emphasizes the need for collective resilience and patriotism in overcoming national challenges.

The minister described Easter as a “period of unity and compassion” and said the season reminds Nigerians of the enduring virtues of sacrifice, love, and renewed hope.

“These are values that align with citizens’ collective efforts to build a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria,” he said. “May the spirit of Easter inspire hope and solidarity and build a Nigeria where every home enjoys uninterrupted power, and every citizen thrives in an environment of peace and progress.

Together, we shall triumph over obstacles and illuminate our nation’s great future.”

The minister’s assurance comes as a welcome relief to many Nigerians who have been grappling with the challenges of unstable power supply, which has hindered economic growth and development in the country. The federal government’s commitment to reforming the power sector has been a major campaign promise, and Nigerians will be watching with keen interest to see how the government’s efforts will translate into tangible results.

As Nigerians continue to celebrate the Easter season, the minister’s message serves as a reminder of the government’s commitment to transforming the power sector and improving the lives of citizens. With the government’s renewed focus on the sector, there is hope that the country may finally be on the path to achieving a stable and reliable power supply, which is essential for economic growth and development.
