Governor Eno Declare Support for Tinubu in 2027

Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has declared his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, asserting the decision is a matter of principle and not a shift in political allegiance.
Addressing a rally in Ikot Ekpene on Thursday, Eno, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stated he believes Tinubu deserves to complete a full eight-year term.
The Governor defended his stance against potential accusations of disloyalty, emphasizing a commitment to forthrightness. “I don’t know how to speak from two sides of the mouth,” he said, adding that the reasoning behind his support will be revealed “when the time comes,” connecting it to benefits accruing to Akwa Ibom State.
Eno’s endorsement follows recent criticism from within the PDP, with chieftain Ose Anenih claiming party governors lack the fortitude to challenge Tinubu’s re-election bid. Dele Momodu, publisher of Ovation Magazine, further suggested that opposition to coalition building within the PDP may mask covert support for the President.
Despite backing Tinubu, Eno affirmed his continued membership within the PDP, stating Akwa Ibom is known for its consistency and individuals are “entitled to their own opinion.”
The Governor also highlighted strong support for his own re-election bid, citing explicit endorsements from Senate President God’sWill Akpabio, evidenced by recent parliamentary votes and public statements. He characterized the political landscape as one of reciprocal support, stating, “If you fall for me, I fall for you.”
