Pandemonium as New House Cracks, Totters

A chaotic scene unfolded in the Deleko area of Mushin, Lagos, earlier today as a newly built house was on the verge of collapse, forcing occupants to jump out to safety.

Eyewitnesses described the scene as “absolute pandemonium” as people were seen frantically leaping out of the house, with neighbors rushing to offer support.

According to eyewitnesses, the building began to show signs of structural distress earlier in the day, with cracks appearing on the walls and floors. Despite efforts to evacuate the building, some occupants were trapped inside, prompting a desperate bid to escape.

“I was in my house when I heard a loud cracking sound,” said Mrs. Abiola, a neighbor who witnessed the incident. “I rushed outside to see people jumping out of the house. It was like a nightmare. I’m just glad that everyone got out safely.”

Another eyewitness, Mr. Olawale, described the scene as “chaotic.” “People were running in all directions, trying to get away from the house. I saw a woman jumping out of the window with her child. It was a miracle she didn’t get hurt.”

Emergency services, including the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and the Nigerian Red Cross, were quickly deployed to the scene to assist with the evacuation and provide medical attention to those affected.

“We received a distress call at around and immediately dispatched our team to the scene,” said a LASEMA spokesperson. “We are working to ensure that everyone is safe and providing support to those affected.”

The cause of the collapse is currently unknown, but officials say that an investigation will be launched to determine the cause of the incident.

“This is a very serious incident, and we will do everything in our power to ensure that those responsible are held accountable,” said a government official. “We will also work to provide support to those affected and ensure that they receive the assistance they need.”

The incident has raised concerns about the safety of buildings in the area, with many calling for greater scrutiny of construction practices and enforcement of building codes.

“This is not the first time we have seen a building collapse in this area,” said a local resident. “Something needs to be done to ensure that our buildings are safe and that we are not putting our lives at risk every time we step into a building.”

The incident is currently under investigation.
