NNPP is Dead, Declares Ganduje, Predicts Kwankwaso’s Return to Ruling Party

All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje has asserted that the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) is “dead” and predicted that its 2023 presidential candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso would come back to the APC.
Ganduje made this statement when the Tinubu Support Group visited him at the APC national secretariat in Abuja.
He was hopeful that Kwankwaso, formerly the governor of Kano State and now the leader of NNPP, would come back to the APC, noting that the party was always open to embracing comeback members.
The statement made by the chairman of the APC appears embarrassing to the NNPP, which has been fighting to keep its head above water in Nigerian politics.
The assertion by Ganduje that the party is “dead” and on the verge of collapse will certainly serve to further demoralize NNPP members and put the future of the party in doubt.
Ganduje further hinted that Kwankwaso, even though he suffered those recent political setbacks, is plotting to return to the APC.
“Even so, the supposed NNPP national leader, he too, after losing all the people, he wants to come back to us, we’ll take him back, because he’s coming home,” he remarked.
APC chairman’s statement is interpreted as an open indication that the party is confident of its grip and is prepared to open its door to the return of erstwhile members who could be planning to return. Ganduje’s statement is also a warning to other opposition parties that APC can absorb any high-profile personalities who could be looking to switch allegiance.
He further belittled the opposition party’s power, positing that any coalition that was being built to confront President Bola Tinubu’s government ahead of the 2027 general election would not survive. He asserted that such coalitions would, in the end, fail and that prominent actors would find themselves folding back to the APC.
The APC chairman’s words have created a heated controversy in Nigerian politics, with the whole world wondering what this implies for the future of NNPP and opposition in general. With elections approaching in 2027, only time can tell whether Ganduje’s prophecies are realized and whether the APC emerges more united and robust than ever.
