President Tinubu Commends Akwa Ibom Leadership: “Your Governor is Truly Outstanding”

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed his admiration for the people of Akwa Ibom State regarding their progress and unity, crediting much of the state’s achievements to the remarkable leadership of Governor Pastor Umo Eno. In a significant meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Tinubu praised Eno’s dedication to governance, development, and the welfare of the citizens.

“You are fortunate to have a great governor,” the president told a 104-member delegation from Akwa Ibom, comprising political figures, traditional leaders, and religious representatives. “He is God-fearing and deeply cares for his constituents. True leadership is about serving the people, not personal interests, and Governor Eno understands this.”

The delegation visited the President to present him with Akwa Ibom’s highest traditional honor, the “Otuekong” title—Commander-in-Chief or General—bestowed by the state’s traditional rulers, including Oku Ibom Ibibio III, Ntenyin Solomon Etuk. This honor was in recognition of Tinubu’s national leadership and his longstanding ties with Akwa Ibom, particularly through his past connection with Mobil Producing Nigeria in Eket.

In gratitude, President Tinubu reflected on his personal experiences in Akwa Ibom, stating, “I once lived in Eket and have come to appreciate the warmth and resilience of its people. I truly understand Akwa Ibom.” He highlighted the need for bipartisan cooperation at all levels of government to foster sustainable national development.

Governor Umo Eno took the opportunity to present a 20-month performance report of his administration, highlighting both ongoing and completed projects, including the construction of the Ibom Deep Seaport, rural infrastructure enhancements, and ecological initiatives. He also formally invited President Tinubu to inaugurate the newly completed Arise Resorts and several key highway projects in May 2025 as part of the state’s development showcase.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio, a prominent member of the delegation and a notable son of the state, commended Governor Eno’s leadership in promoting peace and unity. He assured the President of Akwa Ibom’s commitment to contributing to the nation’s priorities, particularly in enhancing economic and infrastructure development.

This visit was not merely a ceremonial event but a strong testament to Akwa Ibom’s readiness to collaborate with the federal government on crucial issues such as environmental management, national unity, and strategic development.

At the conclusion of the meeting, President Tinubu reiterated the necessity of service-oriented leadership, stating, “With unity, vision, and selfless dedication, Nigeria will achieve its destined future.”

The interaction marked a significant moment of unity, emphasizing that, regardless of political divides, collective efforts for the common good remain paramount.
