The Lagos State Police Command has launched an investigation into an explosion at a Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) camera retailer shop in Ikeja, Lagos.
The explosion happened on Friday at 6:35 p.m. at Kodesho Street, Computer Village, Ikeja.
The explosion occurred inside the store, and the premises were cordoned off promptly by police personnel from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit, Mobile Police Detachment, and Conventional Police Teams, according to the spokesperson of the command, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin.
The EOD personnel cleared the site to render the area safe for occupants and permit a proper investigation to determine the cause of the explosion.

Five persons who were inside and around the shop at the time of the explosion were injured at varying degrees and were evacuated to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) for treatment.
Even as investigations continue, the CP appealed to Lagosians to remain calm and not panic. Members of the public are asked to carry out their peaceful lawful engagements and businesses without fear or anxiety, as the location of the explosion and its surroundings have been made safe and secure.
The Lagos State Police Command thereafter assured the public of its determination to provide peace and security throughout the state.
