Kidnappers Free ECWA Pastor Hold on to Man who Delivered Ransom for His Releases

A kidnapped ECWA pastor has been rescued following a period of captivity, while the individual who negotiated the ransom and brought it to the captors is yet to be returned.
Samson Ali, aged 30, was abducted from his home in Mararaba Aboro, Sanga Local Government Area, this week, barely two weeks after he commenced work at the church.
The original ransom demands by the perpetrators were N100 million, which was later lowered through negotiations.
An all-out effort was undertaken between the Nigerian Army officials, the police, and the Department of State Services to facilitate the cleric’s return.
After long negotiations, Ali was allowed to depart, but Yusuf Ambi, the individual who was tasked with bringing the financial compensation, was held back.
The criminal organization is now making additional demands, either financial or otherwise, in order to release Ambi.
“The cleric has been released, but the person who carried the agreed amount is being held, and further demands are being made,” said a source familiar with the developing situation.
The attack has provoked much public commentary, particularly on the web, and has brought into focus the security situation in Kaduna State. The people are demanding more government action to check rising criminality.
“This criminal venture has been a thorn in the flesh of the entire nation, and the authorities should take bold, decisive measures,” an inhabitant said.
The authorities are now conducting investigations to apprehend the perpetrators and ensure Ambi’s safe return.
The ECWA community welcomed Ali’s release but went on to express concern about Ambi’s safety.
“We rejoice at Pastor Ali’s safe release, though our concern remains the continued detention of our fellow member,” a church official, stated.
