U.S. Diplomat, Tim Smith Meets with Atiku Abubakar on Nigerian Politics

U.S. Embassy Acting Deputy Chief of Mission Tim Smith met with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Thursday to discuss the Nigerian politics.

Throughout the meeting, discussions revolved around Nigeria’s democratic process, political trends, and the importance of inclusive government.

Mr. Smith and Mr. Abubakar exchanged views on the opportunities and challenges of Nigeria’s democracy, the necessity of sustained dedication to democratic principles and institutions.

This meeting once more attests to the sustained interest of the United States in Nigerian stability and democratic trend.

The United States remains keen on helping Nigeria towards democratic institution consolidation, openness, and peaceful politics.

Mr. Abubakar, Nigerian politician and erstwhile presidential aspirant, spoke of his thoughts on the politics of Nigeria and the work of various interest groups in attaining democratic rule.
