Kano Varsity Matriculates 578 Students, Highlights Vision, Achievements

Khalifa Isyaku Rabi’u University (KHAIRUN), located in Kano, today held its matriculation ceremony for the 2025 academic session, formally inducting 578 newly admitted students into the university community.
During the ceremony, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Abdulrashid Garba, reiterated the university’s dedication to upholding academic excellence through adherence to international best practices and standards.
He paid tribute to the founder of KHAIRUN, the late Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu, emphasizing that his vision remains the guiding principle for the institution’s growth and development.
Professor Garba underscored KHAIRUN’s commitment to being a value-driven university, built upon the pillars of entrepreneurship, Islamic ethics, and Qur’anic education – values deeply rooted in the ideals of its revered founder.
He reminded the newly matriculated students that the matriculation oath signifies their formal entry into the global academic community and urged them to embody the university’s core values in their academic pursuits, conduct, and interpersonal relationships.
The Vice Chancellor also highlighted significant milestones achieved by the university, including the successful hosting of over 20 academic seminars and lectures. He proudly announced the launch of two international academic journals and two professional journals, demonstrating the university’s commitment to research and intellectual discourse.
Furthermore, he noted the active collaborations established with various local and international institutions, research organizations, and non-governmental organizations.
In terms of infrastructural development, Professor Garba pointed to the transformation of the university’s library, which now boasts expanded resources, digital access, and extended operating hours. He also highlighted the university’s modern facilities, including a fully functional website, smart classrooms, and round-the-clock security across the campus.
Other notable achievements include the institutionalization of Qur’anic recitation and memorization for 100 and 200-level students, full compliance 1 with the National Universities Commission (NUC) Academic Brief of 2022, the launch of the 2025–2027 Strategic Plan, and the establishment of a dedicated Quality Assurance Office.
