In Renewed Hope Housing Scheme, FG to Build 77,400 Houses Across LGAs

In a bid to address the housing deficit in the nation, the Federal Government has announced that it will construct 100 housing units across each of the 774 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Nigeria.

The massive project is under the Renewed Hope Social Housing Programme, a flagship programme of the President Bola Tinubu administration to make housing more affordable for Nigerians across all economic classes.

According to Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, the programme is designed to bring homeownership within the reach of low-income earners. “It is our desire to make it achievable for all, regardless of income level, to own a home,” he said. “We hold the belief that housing is a fundamental human right, and we are committed to making it accessible to every Nigerian.”

Under the programme, employees earning as low as N30,000 a month will be able to become homeowners with a payment of just N10,000 a month, about a third of their income. Similarly, those earning N90,000 a month will pay N30,000 a month. The innovative financing scheme is set to make homeownership a reality for millions of Nigerians who were previously excluded from the market.

The Renewed Hope Social Housing Programme is set to be launched soon by President Bola Tinubu, and it can be a game-changer in the country’s housing sector. The programme, through the construction of 77,400 housing units across the country, will not only end the housing issue of Nigerians but also create jobs, stimulate economic activities, and improve the overall standard of living of the people.

The Minister of Housing and Urban Development was hopeful about the programme and said, “We are committed to making the Renewed Hope Social Housing Programme a success, and we are doing all we can to ensure that it is effectively and efficiently implemented. We are sure that this programme will bring meaningful difference to the lives of Nigerians, and we look forward to the positive change it will bring.”
