Saraki Denies PDP Governors Defection Story

Former Senate President , Olusola Saraki has denied saying that five PDP Governors were John Ning the ruling All Progressives Congress and blamed detractors for such falsehood.
Online reports said Saraki had said five PDP Governors were defecting to APC and that none of the APC governors is contemplating going to the opposition.
The news stated Saraki criticized the financial investment by other PDP governors to the party.
The initial claims painted a picture of political realignment, whereby the PDP Governors were enbloc, leaving the party.
He also was said to have expressed skepticism at the enthusiasm of some of the PDP governors to sponsor party activities financially.
However, the media office of Saraki has issued a rebuttal labeling the report as “fabricated and untrue”.
They explained that the former Senate President never made the statements where he confirmed the defection of five governors of PDP to APC as well as claims APC governors do not want to go to the other side.
“These reports are a complete misrepresentation of Dr. Saraki’s views and are demonstrably false.
“He has not issued any statements confirming such defections or commenting on the allegiance of governors from either party,” the statement said.
Though there was a chance that Saraki may have spoken of the problematic financial plight of the PDP and of perceived lack of commitment by some of the governors, the media office explained this was separate from any remarks concerning some of the defections.
There is no evidence either he made comments about the loyalty of PDP governors to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which could impact the party’s coffers.
