Abike Dabiri Carpets VeryDarkMan over 7-Day Ultimatum on Trafficked Girls

The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) Chairman, Abike Dabiri, has lashed out at social activist and influencer, Vincent Ose, better known as Very Dark Man, for his 7-day ultimatum on the human trafficking case he referenced.

Abike Dabiri in a statement expressed surprise that the social activist was unaware of the existence of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) whose responsibility is to combat human trafficking in Nigeria.

She raised eyebrow at the reasons the activist was behaving in a certain way, suggesting that there might be an “ulterior motive” behind the ultimatum.

Abike Dabiri described the activist’s move as a “clear case of grandstanding” and accused him of trying to undermine efforts by NAPTIP, an agency that has worked tirelessly to combat human trafficking.

She also questioned whether the action of the activist was designed to advance his own interests or publicity at the expense of genuine concern for human trafficking victims.

The NIDCOM Chairman stated that her agency has been working in close collaboration with NAPTIP and other relevant agencies to address the issue of human trafficking, and that a tremendous amount of progress had been made over the past few years.

She implored the social activist to channel his energy towards promoting the efforts of those agencies rather than trying to instruct them on how to work.

The response of Abike Dabiri to the social activist has sparked a heated debate on social media, with most Nigerians providing comments on the issue. While there have been reports of support for the activist’s threat, most Nigerians have commended Abike Dabiri for standing up to what they see as an act of bullying and intimidation.
