Lagos Police Briefs on Security Efforts, Justice for Victims

In recent days, the city of Lagos has been rocked by a string of tragedies—lives lost, families shattered, and communities grieving. But in the midst of pain, the Lagos State Police Command is working tirelessly to bring justice and restore peace, one case at a time.

CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesperson for the command, shared the heartbreaking updates during a press briefing on Monday, giving voice to victims whose stories might otherwise go unheard.

On March 30, he said a 46-year-old man lost his life in Abaranje during what began as a disagreement but ended in irreversible loss. He was stabbed in the chest with a broken bottle. A 36-year-old woman has been arrested.

He had a family, dreams, perhaps children who waited for him to come home. Now, a community mourns, and justice is in motion.

That same day, in Ijora Badia, a 38-year-old man was reportedly beaten into unconsciousness by a 21-year-old man. He later died at Apapa General Hospital. Friends describe him as quiet and hardworking.

He had a story—now silenced too soon. The suspect is in custody.

April 1 brought another devastating loss when three elderly residents—aged 75, 70, and 59—were gunned down in Badagry. They were parents, perhaps grandparents. Carriers of history, wisdom, and love. One suspect has been arrested, while the primary suspect died the following day after being taken to the hospital.

The Badagry community has rallied around the victims’ families with candles, prayers.
