First Lady, Oluremi Donates N1 Billion To National Cancer Center

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu Donates One Billion Naira to National Cancer Fund in the Fight against Cervical Cancer
The action is aimed at strengthening the nation’s ongoing fight against cervical cancer, which is quickly becoming an emerging health concern in the country.
The donation was announced at a special event, during which Senator Tinubu reaffirmed her concern over the increase in cervical cancer cases in Nigeria.
She placed emphasis on early detection, public awareness, and access to affordable treatment options for women across the nation.
Cervical cancer remains one of the leading causes of death in Nigerian women, with thousands of cases diagnosed each year.
Though the government and other health institutions have been doing their best, many women continue to be hindered from screening, diagnosis, and treatment, especially in rural areas.
This donation is part of Senator Tinubu’s greater initiative towards improving women’s health and ensuring that no woman is left behind in the struggle against cancer.
In reference to the ceremony of the donation, the First Lady also highlighted the need for collective action by the government, private sector, and civil society organizations to curb cancer spread.
She also highlighted the need for a multi-pronged strategy through education, preventive interventions, and enhanced healthcare services to reduce the spread of cervical cancer in Nigeria.
Senator Tinubu further indicated that the funds would be used in the improvement of cancer treatment facilities, funding screening programs, as well as providing financial aid to women undergoing treatment.
The donation is also expected to go a long way towards advancing healthcare programs aimed at stopping the spread of cervical cancer and in the process saving thousands of lives.
The National Cancer Fund, one of the prominent bodies in cancer awareness and treatment in Nigeria, valued the donation with all their heart, understanding that it would assist in making a lasting change in the cervical cancer war.
The organization’s leadership explained that donations of such a nature would go a long way towards supporting cancer care services, including the establishment of specialized cancer centers and training health practitioners.
