Dangote Pledges to Ensure Self Sufficiency, Independence in Core Economic Drivers

Dangote Industries Limited has vowed to assist in making Nigeria independent in cement, agriculture, mining, and petroleum, among others.

Dr. Abayomi Shittu, Regional Sales Director, Southeast, Dangote Cement, made this known in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria at the ongoing 36th Enugu International Trade Fair.

As a conglomerate with diversified operations in cement, sugar, salt, poly products, real estate, agriculture, logistics, telecoms, steel, oil, and gas, Dangote Industries Ltd. has three listed subsidiary companies on the Nigerian Stock Exchange: Dangote Cement Plc., Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc., and NASCON Allied Industries Plc.

The company’s investments in Nigeria are driven by the company’s belief in the enormous economic potential of the nation, according to Dr. Shittu.

The Dangote Sugar Refinery’s out-grower scheme has given jobs to thousands of farmers from its host communities, while the Dangote Fertiliser has facilitated the growth of Nigeria’s agricultural industry on a massive scale.

The planned Dangote Petroleum Refinery will drive the development of ancillary industries, which will further boost the economy.

The Enugu Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (ECCIMA) Fairs, to which Dr. Shittu made the comment, provide a unique platform for industries to target customers in the Southeast and South-South geopolitical zones.

Being the state with the most number of industries concentrated in these two zones, the fairs offer a pivotal moment for companies to market their services and products.
