Tinubu to Visit FCT Area Councils, Identify with Residents

In a bid to deepen the connection with Federal Capital Territory (FCT) residents, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu intends to visit different area councils within the territory.
The tour, aimed at deepening the government and people relationship, will be an opportunity for President Tinubu to personally interact with local communities and identify key areas of concern in their daily life.
The President is to visit these councils to reinforce his administration’s agenda to increase the visibility of development projects in area councils, which has been a priority agenda for the government.
Tinubu has deployed heavy equipment to places such as the six area councils of the FCT in his time as President to invest in infrastructure and social welfare initiatives.
In January 2025, FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike revealed that the Tinubu administration had committed ₦300 billion to developing the area councils. These were spent on various projects like road construction, school upgrades, and upgrading police stations.
Among the spotlight projects has been the construction of the nine-kilometer Paikon Kore-Ibwa road in the Gwagwalada Area Council, which was undertaken at a cost of ₦8.5 billion. Such initiatives are part of the administration’s master plan to improve infrastructure and living conditions for FCT inhabitants.
In addition to infrastructure development, the FCTA, in association with First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Initiative, has led efforts in rendering assistance to vulnerable communities in the region.
In March 2024, the FCTA donated foodstuffs to lepers and other downtrodden communities of the Abaji, Kuje, and Gwagwalada area councils. This program was part of the administration’s ongoing efforts to address the immediate needs of the less privileged segment of society, alleviating hunger and providing basic aid.
While details of the exact dates and sites for President Tinubu’s visit are yet to be finalized, his planned engagement with the local people is seen as an extension of his administration’s move towards bridging the gap between the people and the government.
The visit will probably offer citizens a chance to address their concerns directly and consider ways of strengthening development in their communities further.
Since the government is still focused on the welfare of the people in the FCT area councils, President Tinubu’s scheduled visit will be a giant step towards ensuring that the development and progress promises are taken to the people.
