Pep Guardiola on Letting Kevin De Bruyne Go,.Says Club Must Look to the Future

Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola has confirmed that the decision to let go of Kevin De Bruyne was a collective one, in the best interest of the club.
The 33-year-old midfielder will be departing the Etihad Stadium this summer after a trophy-filled 10-year spell, in which he played an integral part in the team’s success.
Guardiola, along with outgoing director of football Txiki Begiristain and other senior officials, made the tough call not to extend De Bruyne’s contract.
Although the player was prepared to stay on, even in a reduced capacity, the club hierarchy decided it was time to dismantle the team and start again.
“The decision has been made for the club, and the club is the club,” Guardiola explained. “Me, Txiki, and the club, so this is what it is. The club must continue going on, go on, and rebuilding this kind of player is so difficult. But yeah, these are the qualities and things we have to find out.”
De Bruyne’s exit marks an era for Manchester City during which he won several titles including several Premier League titles, FA Cups, and League Cups. His commitment to the team’s success will never be forgotten since his legacy will be employed to motivate future generations of City players.
As the club bids farewell to a beloved player, Guardiola and his team are already thinking ahead, attempting to rebuild and fortify the team. Replacing a player like De Bruyne will not be easy, but the club is set on persevering and looking for new talent to push them to victory.
