Nicholas Ukachukwu Wins APC Gubernatorial Ticket in Anambra

Nicholas Ukachukwu, has won the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial ticket for Anambra State.

He emerged out of other contestants as the standard bearer for the party to square up against Chukwuma Soludo and iother contenders.

In his acceptance speech, he declared, “Nobody has won the governorship of Anambra without my support, it has never happened before. I have been playing godfatherrism, but now I want to be the father of the father, no more godfather.”

This statement was not only a testament to Ukachukwu’s influence and reputation in Anambra State politics but also a clear indication of his ambition to transcend his current role as a kingmaker to become the ultimate authority in the state’s governance.

By asserting that no one has won the governorship without his support, Ukachukwu was emphasizing his significant role in shaping the state’s political trajectory over the years.

The phrase “I have been playing godfatherrism” suggests that Ukachukwu has been wielding considerable power and influence behind the scenes, pulling the strings to determine the outcome of previous gubernatorial elections. However, his desire to become the “father of the father” implies that he now seeks to occupy the top position himself, rather than simply pulling the levers of power from behind the scenes.

This bold declaration has sparked a mix of reactions from various stakeholders in the state, with some hailing Ukachukwu’s confidence and ambition, while others have expressed skepticism and even concern about the implications of his statement. Some have interpreted his words as a threat to the existing power dynamics in the state, while others see it as a welcome development that could bring about positive change.

As the APC gubernatorial candidate, Ukachukwu’s statement has set the tone for his campaign, which is likely to focus on his experience, influence, and vision for the state. His message is clear: he is not just a candidate, but a force to be reckoned with, and his support has been instrumental in shaping the state’s political landscape.

However, Ukachukwu’s statement has also raised questions about the nature of his support and the extent of his influence. What does he mean by “nobody has won the governorship without my support”? Is he implying that he has been involved in backroom deals or that he has been using his influence to sway voters? How does he plan to transition from being a godfather to becoming the “father of the father”?
