The former Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris, has given her backing to the ongoing protests throughout America against the government of President Donald Trump and his billionaire ally, Elon Musk.
She lost presidential contest to Trump in the 2024 election and has shown her support for the protests via her X account, praising the American people for standing up against the administration’s style of policy implementation.
In her statement, Harris commended the protesters for standing up for valuable programs such as Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, and the Department of Education and programs such as Head Start. She also noted their fight for clean water and air, and the right to control their bodies without the interference of the government.
Harris emphasized that working people’s voices would always sound louder than the “unelected billionaires.” Her message was plain: the American people will not be silenced, and their collective voice will be heard. In her words,
“Today in every state in our country, Americans are pushing back against the administration as they roll out Project 2025 full speed. The voices of working people will always be louder than the unelected billionaires.”
The protests, which were conducted on April 5, 2025, saw thousands of Americans protesting in the streets against Trump’s government and its sweeping policy initiatives, including cutting the cost of governance. The protests were indicative of the growing disillusionment in the American population, who desire a more equitable and fairer society.
In response to the protests, the White House issued a statement claiming that Americans are already seeing the early results of Trump’s presidency. The statement was not, however, intended to soothe the protesters’ fears, who are demanding greater transparency and accountability from the government.
