Two Chinese,.Police.Escort.Killed.in.Uturu Ambush

An ambush on a group of Chinese expatriates and their police escorts has left three people dead and several others injured in Abia State.

The attack, which occurred on April 4, 2025, in the Isuikwuato Local Government Area of the state, has been condemned by the state government and the police authorities.

According to a statement issued by the Abia State Police Command, the attack resulted in the death of two Chinese expatriates, Mr. Quan and Mr. Cai, and Inspector Audu Saidu, one of the police escorts. The assailants also stole Inspector Saidu’s rifle.

The statement, signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen Chinaka, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Danladi Isa, revealed that the attack occurred while the group was en route to a company site in Agukwu-Amaya, Ndundu Community, Uturu.

“Upon receiving the information, operatives from Abia State Command, in a joint operation with the military and other sister agencies, launched a search mission,” the statement read. “As a result, three Chinese expatriates were rescued unhurt, while one sustained injuries. Inspector Uba Ahmed, who was also rescued, suffered a gunshot injury to his leg. Both the injured officer and the expatriate are currently receiving treatment and responding to treatment at FMC Abakaliki.”

The police command has assured the people of Abia State that the perpetrators of the attack will be brought to justice, stating that an investigation has commenced.

“We urge residents to remain security conscious, go about their lawful activities without fear, and support the police by reporting any suspicious persons, vehicles, or activities to the nearest Police Station,” the statement added.

The attack has sparked widespread condemnation, with the state government and the police authorities vowing to bring the perpetrators to justice.

The police have launched a full-scale investigation into the attack, with a team of detectives and forensic experts combing the scene for evidence.

“We are working tirelessly to identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice,” said Commissioner of Police Danladi Isa. “We appeal to anyone with information about the attack to come forward and assist us in our investigation.”

The police have increased security presence in the area, with armed personnel deployed to patrol the roads and surrounding communities.

“We are taking all necessary measures to ensure the safety and security of our citizens and visitors,” said the police commissioner. “We urge everyone to remain calm and go about their lawful activities without fear.”
