PDP Just Wasting Money Trying to Overturn My Victory, Boasts Okpebholo
Edo State Governor, Monday. Okpebholo has while celebrating his victory at the election tribunal in his hometown of Irrua, taken a swipe on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Asue Ighodalo, saying they are “wasting money” pursuing a case he believes is already lost.
“They will never steal Edo people’s mandate,” Okpebholo told a cheering crowd. “They’re throwing money into a pit with all these court cases. The people have spoken loud and clear.”
This comes after the Edo State Election Petition Tribunal threw out Ighodalo’s petition, which accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of electoral malpractice and over-voting in favor of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate.
The court wasn’t convinced and Okpebholo walked away with his victory intact.
Still, Ighodalo isn’t backing down. In a statement, he confirmed he’s taking the fight to the Appeal Court, insisting his campaign is about more than just winning it’s about protecting the integrity of the process.
“We owe it to the people to ensure justice is done,” Ighodalo said. “This isn’t just about me. It’s about the future of democracy in Edo State.”
While Okpebholo is celebrating and moving on with governance, the PDP is digging in for what could be a drawn-out legal battle. For many Edo citizens, it’s more than courtroom drama — it’s a test of political will, loyalty, and belief in the system.
As the story continues to unfold, all eyes are on the Appeal Court. Will it bring a twist, or is the PDP simply fighting a losing battle?
