Bayo Ojulari has officially taken over as Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) from Mele Kyari.

The handover ceremony was held today at NNPC Towers in Abuja which marks the end of an era for Kyari and a beginning for Ojulari.

The formal transfer of leadership was announced by Chief Corporate Communications Officer, NNPC Ltd, Mr. Olufemi Soneye, in a statement circulated shortly after the ceremony.

Mr. Ojulari also paid tribute to Mr. Kyari, for his outstanding leadership and contribution to the development of Nigeria and said that he wishes to build on the good work performed under the President, in order to contribute to the growth of NNPC Ltd.

“It is the aim of my management to move the company forward and continue with our success of the last President, Ojulari added. He said while the targets he has set for himself under his leadership are aggressive, he was confident that he would achieve them through collaboration and the knowledge available within the company.

“I am going to have you as a support, I need you. I will be coming here to seek your advice, ” Ojulari told Mr. Kyari directly in affirming his readiness to maintain mutually beneficial contacts.

Former GCEO Mr. Mele Kyari said he wished good luck to Mr. Ojulari on his appointment and expressed his deepest thanks to the management and staff of NNPC Ltd for their unstinting support in his mandate and appealed to the new leadership to continue supporting him.

“I really will do my best to help the new management and the team so that I can support their success. I promise I will do everything I can to make that happen, ” Kyari said, assuring a smooth transition and continued growth within the company.

Over the next few days, we will soon be able to gather insights and feedback on how I personally feel that I will guide NNPC Ltd in executing its strategies in line with the challenges we are facing today in the global energy sector. Even as I am sitting here, watching the day dawn, I am sure many people will be holding their breaths to see how I will guide NNPC Ltd in executing its strategic objectives and contribute to the country’s energy security and the economic prosperity.
