Insecurity: Katsina State to Install CCTV Cameras Across 34 LGAs

 

As part of efforts to stem insecurity in the state, the government of Katsina State has approved the installation of closed-circuit television (CCTV) surveillance cameras across all the 34 local government areas.

 

Thid was disclosed by the Chairman of Danja Local Government Area and ALGON, Katsina State, Robo Tambaya, at a stakeholders’ town hall meeting organized by the State Police Command as part of the 2025 maiden annual Police Day celebration.

 

The scheme according toTambaya aims to donate CCTV cameras to all 34 local government councils and 361 wards to enhance the security status in the state. He credited the move to Governor Umar Radda’s effort in ensuring that there is security for all citizens in the state.

 

The application of CCTV cameras is expected to be a significant enhancement in the state government’s and police forces’ security efforts. The application of the cameras will help monitor and track the activities of terrorists and bandits, thus making it easier for security agencies to respond to security threats.

 

Tambaya assured the meeting that the state government would provide full cooperation to the police and other security forces to ensure the security of the state. He also commended the police for their efforts in eliminating crimes and criminality in the state.

 

To ease the grievances of the stakeholders, the representative of the Inspector-General of Police, AIG Musa Abubakar, promised the team that the police will punish any officer who has been discovered to be undermining the integrity of the institution.

 

The Commissioner of Police in Katsina State, CP Bello Shehu, also promised to collaborate with the people to develop the state and ensure its safety
