In Pushback, APC Blasts Obi for Criticising, Tinubu’s Government, Insists Its Unquestionably Successful*

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has blasted the Labour Party 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, in response to his criticisms, pointing out that President Bola Tinubu’s government is unquestionably successful and does not need to be endorsed by the opposition.
Reacting in a statement, APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka called Obi’s claim of better governance “hysterical” and highlighted the achievements of the Tinubu administration, such as settling a $7 billion foreign exchange arrears and clearing over $30 billion in Ways and Means.
Morka also mentioned the reduction of the debt servicing ratio from 98% to around 64% and oil production increasing to over 1.8 million barrels a day, higher than OPEC’s quota of 1.5 million barrels a day for the first time in years.
Morka referred to Obi’s outburst as “frustration and political desperation”, adding that the former governor of the Anambra State was still drinking from an “election failure-induced hangover” and had yet to understand he is not the president.
“Mr. Obi’s go-to come-back, ‘I would have done better as president,’ has to be a sign of an extended case of election failure-induced hangover to which he has not woken up to the fact that he is not the president,” Morka added.
The APC praised Tinubu’s administration for economic reforms, announcing that the president remains committed to good governance and improving the economic fortunes of all Nigerians.
The party cited the administration’s successes, including a 3.6 percent economic growth anticipated in the ongoing fiscal year, a fast-increasing foreign reserve, revamped and operational local refineries, and an effective harmonisation of multiple exchange rates that now supports improved foreign direct investments and remittance inflow into the economy.
Morka further stated that the world institutions and experts were praising the ongoing silent economic revolution spearheaded excellently by President Tinubu, while Obi and his co-opposition critics remain in denial of the president’s successes and achievements.
“Whereas international institutions and analysts are calling in admiration of the ongoing quiet economic revolution well described by President Tinubu, Obi and his co-opposition drummers of empty partisan barrels continue to deny President Tinubu’s exceptional and unprecedented near mid-term achievements and successes,” Morka added.
