Breaking News: Court Jail’s Man 3 Months for Failing to Declare $30,000 at Airport

A court in Lagos has found Mr. Okunfulure Olusola Steven guilty and sentenced him to three months in prison for failing to declare foreign currency in his possession at the airport.

 

In a bid to leave the country, Mr. Okunfulure was found with $30,000(Thirty Thousand US Dollars) which he had not declared as required by law.

 

The judgement was passed by Justice Deinde I. Dipeolu on Wednesday, April 2, 2025. Mr. Okunfulure prior to his sentencing, pleaded guilty as charged by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), signifying that he accepts responsibility for his actions

 

The case against Okunfulure Olusola Steve was heard at the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, and the outcome serves as a warning to others who might consider engaging in similar illegal activities.

 

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has been actively working to combat financial crimes, including money laundering, and this conviction is a testament to the commission’s efforts to hold offenders accountable.

 

By failing to declare the $30,000, Okunfulure Olusola Steve violated the country’s financial laws, and the court’s decision reflects the seriousness with which such offenses are viewed.
