Nigeria Police Rescues 21 Kidnap Victims, Recover N4.8 Million, Arms

 

The Nigeria Police Force has recorded a great victory in its fight against crime, as it freed 21 kidnap victims and recovered N4.8 million ransom money, along with arms and ammunition, in coordinated operations in Taraba and Kano states.

In a release by Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the activities operations carried out between March 8 and March 29, 2025, resulted in the arrest of six kidnappers armed robbers and recovery illegal firearm.

In Taraba State, a joint operation by the state command and other security agencies led to the rescue of 20 victims of kidnapping on Takum/Mararaba road in Muji town. The rescue was a consequence of an intense shootout between kidnappers and security men in which the kidnappers were forced to withdraw and abandon their victims and vehicles.

Two of the rescued individuals are receiving medical care for injuries sustained during the operation.

In Kano State, the Anti-Kidnapping Squad arrested a gang that kidnapped Dr. Muhammad Bello Yushau, who was abducted on March 8, 2025. A thorough investigation led to the arrest of five suspects, who were discovered with a locally made rifle and N4.84 million. Dr. Yushau was safely rescued and reunited with his family.

In another operation, the Special Tactical Squad (STS) arrested a suspect, Kafinta Musa, in Taraba State for suspected complicity in armed robbery, kidnapping, and unlawful possession of firearms. Five live ammunition rounds were discovered loaded in an AK-49 rifle recovered from the suspect.

The police commended the professionalism and courage of the operatives who took part in operations, pointing to the necessity for collaboration in upholding public security. The force reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling criminal syndicates and ensuring the safety of the citizens in the whole country.

The successful operations are a significant morale enhancer in the police’s struggle against crime and insecurity in Nigeria, and demonstrate the effectiveness of concerted law enforcement efforts in rescuing victims and bringing perpetrators to book.
