Maintain Peace in Your Domain or be Dethroned, Adeleke warn Osun Royal Fathers

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has warned traditional rulers in Ilobu, Ifon, and Erin Osun that any monarch who could not maintain peace in his domain would be dethroned.
The governor’s warning followed recent bloody clashes in the three towns, which resulted in loss of lives and large-scale destruction.
Governor Adeleke in a statement expressed concern that some elements would utilize the temporary relaxation of the curfew imposed on the troubled areas to cause fresh unrest.
The curfew, which was originally for 24 hours, was recently relaxed to 17 hours daily. But the governor warned that any attempt to re-ignite the violence would lead to the immediate re-imposition of the 24-hour curfew.
“I have received reports of plans to revert to violence in Ifon, Ilobu, and Erin Osun towns during the Sallah celebrations. Security agents have been instructed to be on maximum alert and to apprehend the instigators of the trouble. Any monarch under whose domain there is a return of violence will be held responsible and may be removed from office,” Adeleke said.
According to him, the relaxed curfew was implemented on humanitarian grounds to lessen the sufferings of innocent residents who were caught up in the conflict. He clarified that any monarch who could not contain hoodlums in his area would have himself to blame, because they stood the risk of being removed from office.
“There will be no pity for any king who fails to keep his community in line. I won’t hesitate to use the big stick. Enough is enough,” he threatened.
The governor’s message to the royal leaders was straightforward: they needed to take charge of keeping their communities in line or face the music.
Apart from the warning, the state government has increased security, with the key chieftains and the ones involved in the unrest being interrogated immediately. The governor’s stern approach toward the matter is proof of his determination to see peace and harmony in the state.
The people of Osun State can rest assured that their governor is doing all he can to keep them safe and secure. With the Sallah celebrations fast approaching, the governor’s warning is an indication that any attempt to disrupt the peace will be nipped in the bud with speedy and decisive punishment. With the state still reeling from the recent clashes, Governor Adeleke’s leadership and insistence on peace are a beacon of hope for a brighter tomorrow.
