Odegbami Attributes Arokodare’s Rise to Super Eagles to International Sports Academy’s High Standards

Segun Odegbami, Chairman of International Sports Academy, has praised Tolu Arokodare, an alumnus, on his recent selection into the Super Eagles team, attributing his success to the solid base and high-level standards of the academy.

Arokodare, 24 years old, who had trained at the International Sports Academy in Wasinmi, Ogun State, has been making waves in the European football league with Belgian top league club Genk FC.

Odegbami, a retired Green Eagles captain and 1980 African Nations Cup champion, spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) about Arokodare’s talent and potential.

“Arokodare, one of our students, was impressive while he was here. We have lots of players like him because we have high-quality standards,” the 72-year-old said.

Arokodare’s brilliant performance in the 2024/2025 season, scoring 17 goals and making five assists in 30 matches, drew an invitation to the national team by coach Eric Chelle.

He made his debut for the Super Eagles in Kigali, Rwanda, in a 2-0 victory over the home team in a 2026 World Cup qualifier, as he came on as a substitute in the 75th minute.

Odegbami praised Arokodare’s improvement, declaring, “Tolu is a top scorer, with even more individual talent than Osimhen. He can do more with the ball and will be an outstanding performer.”

The football icon stated that he had no doubt that Arokodare would gain even more success with the national team, attributing this to his natural talent and solid foundation at the academy.

The inclusion of Arokodare in the national team is a proof of the quality of players being produced at the International Sports Academy, according to Odegbami. “We have a lot of players like him because we have high-quality standards,” he said.

Odegbami wishes more academy graduates to follow the footsteps of Arokodare and become famous in the footballing world.

Arokodare’s rise to stardom is a testament to the International Sports Academy’s commitment to developing talented young players. With the guidance and exposure of Odegbami, the academy continues to produce top-class players who are making their presence felt in the footballing world.

As Arokodare’s career continues to soar, fans and experts alike will be monitoring his progress closely, and the International Sports Academy will be able to hold its head high for having helped him develop.
