Lightning Kills Herder, 12 Cows in Southern Kaduna

 

In what appeared as a tragic act of fate, lightning struck a herder, killing 12 of his herds instantly in Southern Kaduna, Kaduna State

The incident which took place in Matuak Giwa, Bondon District, Moro’a Chiefdom in Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State sent panic throughout the area.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred around 4:30 pm on Sunday when a thunderstorm rolled in, bringing with it a deadly lightning strike.

The herder, who was taking shelter from the rain alongside his cattle, was killed instantly, along with 12 of his cows.

The Village Head of Matuak Giwa, Simon Ayuba, described the incident as a tragic occurrence that has left the community in shock.

“The young herder was taking shelter from the rain alongside his cattle when the thunderstrike hit, killing them instantly. The herder, along with 12 cows, died on the spot. It was a tragic occurrence that has left the community in shock,” Ayuba said.

Confirming the incident, Mallam Tanko Isiyaka, the Ardo of Bondon District, disclosed that the deceased herder hailed from Bauchi State. He expressed sadness over the incident and called for prayers and support for the bereaved family. “We are deeply saddened by this tragic incident, and our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the deceased herder. We urge everyone to be cautious during this rainy season and to take necessary precautions to avoid such incidents,” Isiyaka said.

The deceased herder was laid to rest according to Islamic rites, and the community has come together to offer support and condolences to the bereaved family.

The occurrence has since stirred grief and sympathy among residents of the area. The community is still trying to come to terms with the sudden and tragic loss of life. “It’s a terrible tragedy, and our hearts go out to the family of the deceased herder. We can only imagine the pain and suffering they must be going through,” said a resident of Matuak Giwa.

The incident has also raised concerns about the safety of herders and farmers during the rainy season. “We urge the government to provide more support and resources to our farmers and herders, especially during this rainy season. We need to take steps to prevent such incidents from happening in the future,” said another resident.

As the community mourns the loss of life, they are also calling for greater awareness and support for herders and farmers during the rainy season. “We need to take care of our people, especially during this time of year. We can’t afford to lose any more lives to such tragic incidents,” said a community leader.
