Akpabio Praises Tinubu as Progressive-Minded Leader, Predicts He’ll be Nigeria’s Greatest President
Senator Godswill Akpabio has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a progressive-minded leader who has contributed greatly to the development of Nigeria, despite numerous challenges he has faced in his political career.
Akpabio, who is President of the Senate of the 10th National Assembly, attributed his success to the selfless efforts of Tinubu.
Speaking at a Special Iftar ceremony in Abuja on Saturday, which was put together to celebrate Tinubu’s 73rd birthday, Akpabio described the President as a bold, fearless, and visionary leader who has inspired him to see the passion he has for the development of Nigeria. He appreciated Tinubu for his role in his emergence as Senate President, adding that he has had the privilege of working in close collaboration with him and has been impressed with his dedication to the progress of the nation.
Akpabio predicted that by the time Tinubu completed his presidency, he would be counted among the best and boldest leader Nigeria had ever produced, with an enduring legacy that would inspire generations yet unborn.
He identified Tinubu’s revolutionary mindset and his commitment to democratic ideals that have already translated to transform Lagos State and are now inspiring a new hope for a better Nigeria in terms of a brighter future prosperity.
“Your Excellency, sir, your leadership, vision, and dedication to a great nation, Nigeria, are a few examples that will inspire unborn generations,” Akpabio said. “I have to say that you are courageous, bold, and visionary, leadership qualities that will stand you in good stead in the history of Nigerian leadership by the time you take your bow. Perhaps the best and boldest president Nigeria has ever produced.”
Akpabio’s words came as he is embroiled in controversy following his emergence as Senate President, with some critics accusing him of being imposed on the Senate by Tinubu. Akpabio’s praise for the President, nonetheless, is an indicator that he is ready to work with him with a view to implementing their shared vision for Nigeria’s development.
The Special Iftar event entertained politicians, religious leaders, and other dignitaries, who all gathered to celebrate the birthday of Tinubu as well as to commend his leadership. The event was seen as a means of Tinubu connecting with his people and recommitting himself to the growth of Nigeria, despite the challenges facing the country.
