Breaking News: Abimbola Akeem Confirmed as Oyomesi

The Oyo State government has announced statement Prince Abimbola Akeem as the Oyomesi,. the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade, has said.

 

According to him, after extensive deliberations and consultations with traditional leaders, Prince Owoade has been nominated by the Oyomesi and endorsed by the Governor of Oyo State.

 

According to the commissioner, a separate statement issued by the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ademola Ojo, confirmed that this announcement brings an end to the disputes and controversies that have arisen since the passing of His Imperial Majesty, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III on April 22, 2022.

 

Hon. Ojo urged all citizens of Oyo State to join the government in welcoming this significant development and to offer their support to the newly appointed Alaafin of Oyo.

 

The Commissioner for Information expressed hopes that Prince Owoade’s reign will usher in a new era of peace, prosperity, and unity for the historic Oyo Kingdom.

 

Prince Owoade is a renowned entrepreneur and philanthropist with dual Nigerian and Canadian citizenship. He serves as the president of 100279 Manitoba Limited, a leading real estate investment and financial services firm based in Manitoba, Canada.

 

Born into a prominent royal family in Oyo town, Prince Owoade is one of the surviving children of the late Pa Rasaki Ibiyosi Owoade, a descendant of the esteemed Aremo Aderounmu Iyanda Owoade of Agure Compound, Oyo town.

 

Prince Owoade completed his secondary education at Baptist High School, Saki, Oyo State, Nigeria in 1992. His father had worked with the Oyo North Agricultural Development Programme (ONADEP), where he played a key role in boosting agricultural productivity in the Oke-Ogun community.

 

With a strong interest in engineering, Prince Owoade pursued his studies in mechanical engineering, earning his National Diploma and Higher National Diploma from The Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, Ogun State (1994-1997) and The Polytechnic, Ibadan (1999-2001), respectively.

 

He subsequently completed his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program with Nigeria Gas Company as a mechanical intern/planner in 2002.

 

After completing his NYSC, Prince Owoade worked with Oceanic Bank International Plc. in Warri as a teller from 2003 to 2004. He later decided to further his education in the United Kingdom, where he attended the University of Sunderland (2008) and Northumbria University (2012), earning Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Mechanical Engineering. Prince Owoade also obtained certification in Project Management (PMP) in June 2015.

 

The Oyo State Government has indicated that the date for Prince Owoade’s coronation ceremony will be announced in due course, following consultations with relevant traditional and official stakeholders.
