Dani Olmo Hit by Groin Injury, Expected to be Out for Two Weeks

FC Barcelona attacking midfielder Dani Olmo will be out of action as he suffered an adductor (groin) injury in his team’s 3-0 victory over Osasuna on March 27, 2025.
Olmo was substituted in the 25th minute of the match after scoring a retaken penalty following an offense committed by an Osasuna player. His early substitution has now raised concerns over the extent of the injury.
Barcelona coach Hansi Flick explained the injury post-game, saying Olmo would likely be out of action for a few weeks.
While an official recovery period was not given, sources indicated that the Spanish international might miss two weeks of competition. That would affect his appearance in a number of high-profile matches in the near future, including the return leg of Copa del Rey’s semi-final tie versus Atlético Madrid and a Champions League quarter-final match versus Borussia Dortmund.
The injury is yet another frustrating chapter in the campaign of Olmo. Earlier in the 2024-2025 season, he was sidelined for around 4-5 weeks due to a hamstring injury in September. Further, administrative issues kept him out of the Spanish Super Cup semifinal in January, contributing to his loss of rhythm and fitness.
This additional setback for Olmo comes as Barcelona, who are three points ahead of Real Madrid and leading La Liga with 63 points, need to keep their winning run going in the second part of the season.
The side will now need to adapt in the absence of Olmo to maintain their streak of not losing in 2025.
Barcelona is, meanwhile, monitoring the midfielder’s rehabilitation closely and has said nothing officially regarding his exact date of return. The Catalan club will be hoping for a quick recovery to integrate him back into their key team for the job at hand.
