Season of Rice as Wike Shares 10,000 Bags of Rice for Ramadan

The Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, has donated 10,000 bags of 25kg rice to religious groups, associations, and special schools for the disabled to mark the Holy month of Ramadan.

The donation, on behalf of the Minister by his Chief of Staff, Mr. Chidi Amadi, is aimed at bringing smiles and succor to the less privileged and vulnerable members of society during this holy season.

As Muslims around the globe observe the fasting, prayer, and almsgiving month of Ramadan, the move by Minister Wike represents a shining embodiment of the true meaning of Ramadan.

The offering of rice in Gwagwalada, Abuja, represents a token of the commitment of the Minister towards helping religious groups and poor people in the FCT.

Mr. Amadi, who represented the Minister at the exercise stressed much importance on donating during Ramadan and added that it is a period where one should give thanks to God Almighty.

He appealed to religious leaders to ensure that the foodstuffs reach those most in need, further stating, “Every moment to give is an opportunity to thank God Almighty. Ramadan is a sacred time for our Muslim brothers, and the Honorable Minister recognizes almsgiving as part and parcel of this time.”

The beneficiaries of the donation, including officials of Muslim religious bodies, associations, groups, and special needs schools, were thrilled and grateful to the Minister for the gift.

School for the Deaf Principal, Alhaji Abdulrazzaq Ademola was grateful to the Minister for the donation and noted that it would help cushion the impact of rising food prices, especially among vulnerable people.

FCT Minister’s residence Chief Imam Imam, Lawal Mustapha, who represented fellow religious leaders and received the donations, was also grateful for the gift, saying, “This act of kindness is a true example of godly leadership. As we hold firm to our faith, kindness must be met with kindness, and we pray for protection and continued success of the Minister. Leaders should always ensure the well-being of their people, and this project is a shining example of that role.”

Minister Wike’s contribution offers a ray of hope and a reminder of the need for compassion and generosity, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan.

As the people gather to celebrate this holy time, the Minister’s act is a strong reminder of the necessity to care and provide for each other, especially the less fortunate and vulnerable sections of society.
