Eagles in Killer Mode as Chelle Bars Visitors over Zimbabwe

Head Coach of the Super Eagles, Eric Chelle has handed down strict rules part of which bars visitors to the camp to avoid distractions in their quest to beat their Zimbabwean opponents and brighten chances of their world cup qualification.
Chelle handed down the rule barely 48 hours to the cracker taking place at Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State tomorrow.
Chelle is said to be somserious with the task that the team had to train in secret without spectators.
According to him, the measure is to ensure maximum concentration and preparedness for the must-win encounter that could potentially boost Nigeria’s qualification hopes for the 2026 World Cup.
After they beat Rwanda 2-0 in Kigali on Friday to rise from fifth to fourth place in Group C on six points, Chelle is leaving no stone unturned in his quest for victory.
The team’s Media Officer, Promise Efoghe, revealed that Chelle has barred journalists and visitors from the camp, while Sunday’s training session was not open to the public.
Monday’s session will be open for only 15 minutes following the official press conference, with arrangements for brief player appearances on match day.
The players are rallying behind their World Cup ambition, with skipper William Troost-Ekong demanding continuity of momentum after they beat Rwanda.
“The victory over Rwanda was a statement that we needed to make. We’re happy with the result, but there’s a lot to be done still. We’ve started the recovery process, and we have to keep working hard,” Troost-Ekong said.
Victor Osimhen, whose brace secured the win against Rwanda, echoed the sentiments of Troost-Ekong, saying, “We are ready. The games that are left are wars, and we have to fight them with everything that we have to win.”
The players are spurred on by the need to play at the FIFA World Cup and make Nigeria proud.
There is much to play for in Group C, and a victory against Zimbabwe would move Nigeria to nine points and in pole position to battle for the group’s solitary World Cup place. The outcome of the Benin Republic against South Africa clash in Abidjan will also play a big role in determining the group’s standings.
As the countdown continues for Tuesday’s battle, all eyes will be on the Super Eagles to see if they can rise to the occasion and secure a vital victory in their quest to qualify for the World Cup. Motivated by their supporters in Uyo and with fresh determination, the side is resolved to mount a commanding performance to remain alive in the World Cup pursuit.
