The Federal Capital City Land Authority has revoked the Right of Occupancy of the Peoples Democratic Party Headquarters in Abuja popularly known as Wadata Plaza.
A letter of revocation dated March 13, 2025 and signed by the Director of Land administration, Mr. Chijioke Nwankwoeze for the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory for alleged breach of the terms of the rights of occupancy.
The terse four-paragraph letter addressed to the National Chairman of the party was titled "notice of revocation of rights of occupancy with file number Misc 81346 in respect with plot number 243 within Central Area (AOO) District, Abuja"
The letter explained that the reason for the revocation was due to violation of conditions for the grant of right of occupancy by allegedly failing to pay ground rents for 20 years.
The later further detailed alleged failure to pay the ground rent from 2006 to 2025 even when several publications were made by the relevant authorities demanding for such payments.
The failure by PDP to pay, the document continued, fouled section 28(5a)(b) of the Land use Act.
"I am further to I form you that the subject property, Plot no 243, Central Area Cadastral Zone AOO, Abuja has this reverted to the Federal Capital Territory Administration and the Administration shall take immediate possession thereof", the revocation letter concluded.
